Is it possible to use a USB cable to migrate to a new macBook Pro?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

No. Options are wifi (slow) or Ethernet, FirWire, Thunderbolt, Time Machine external HD

You can use Target Disk Mode w/FireWire

No, unless you put the data onto an external drive and transfer it from there.
