Q: how can I print with my Canon pixma pro9000 and yosemite?

My printer: Canon Pixma pro9000 was working fine before I switched from a old imac (with Yosemite OS) to a new Imac also with Yosemite 10.10.3 OS.

Now I can't use it and Canon tells me that they don't want to make new software for an old printer...

If I change the settings pretending it is another printer I can get it to print but it compresses the image to a ridiculous shape.

Does any one have a suggestion of how to bypass the settings to make it work normally? I hate to waste a perfectly fine printer, and I don't want to send it to pollute more the planet.

    Give this a try:

On the old Mac go to the HD/Library/Printers folder and copy the Canon folder to the same location on your new iMac.  Reboot, repair disk permissions and try to print.

If it was working under Yosemite on the old computer, it should also work on this one. What happens when you try to print?

That often happens when you use a Canon printer driver for a different model, even something with a similar name, like the Pro 9000 Mk II.

The last printer driver that Canon released for the Pro9000 was for OS X 10.9. You should be able to install and use this driver on 10.10 so here is a link from Canon Australia.

As this driver is not signed for 10.10 you may get blocked from installing it. To get past the block, which is done by Gatekeeper, right-click on the printer driver installer and select Open from the pop-up menu that appears. Now you will get the option to install the driver.

I think PAHU's link was stripped out. Maybe this is what was intended?
