Hearts of Iron 3 Launch Failure

I am running an up to date un-modded copy of the App Hearts of Iron 3 downloaded direct from Apple App Store on PowerMac running OSX 10.9.5

Processor 3.06 GHz intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

I have been running the game without any issues for over 6 months.

I was in the middle of a particular game and I wanted to change the end date to beyond 1948.1.1

Following guidance available elsewhere online, I went in to the two defines.lua files inside the App package and changed the end date to 1999.1.1 in both files. The game has not opened since.

I have changed both defines.lua files back to the default game end date of 1946.1.1, carried out multiple restarts and still no dice.

I have un-installed the App and downloaded a new version direct from the App Store. The newly downloaded App does not load.

I have repeated the above 5 times. The App does not load.

When I click to launch the App, Console displays the following:

04/07/2015 19:40:40.209 com.apple.SecurityServer[14]: Session 100023 created

04/07/2015 19:40:40.210 com.apple.SecurityServer[14]: Killing auth hosts

04/07/2015 19:40:40.210 com.apple.SecurityServer[14]: Session 100022 destroyed

04/07/2015 19:40:40.328 Hearts of Iron III Collection[1562]: CoreText CopyFontsForRequest received mig IPC error (FFFFFECC) from font server

04/07/2015 19:40:40.329 Hearts of Iron III Collection[1562]: CoreText CopyFontsForRequest received mig IPC error (FFFFFECC) from font server

04/07/2015 19:40:40.415 sandboxd[108]: ([1562]) Hearts of Iron I(1562) deny sysctl-write

What can I do to get this App working again?

I have been in to FontBook and resolved all duplicated fonts.

Thanks

Reading the system requirements it sounds like unless they made a patch for Lion or later, it likely is having trouble with some of its old Rosetta code. The system requirements of 10.6 or later suggest it may not have been tested after Rosetta was dropped from the operating system. But it also could be an issue with your security preferences. Note both Gatekeeper and Security preferences in System Preferences may be at play here. You can weaken the security, if you trust that there is no inbound traffic into your Mac otherwise.

Hey, thanks for advice.

The Developer released a 1.1.0 update on to the Mac Store on 24-June with Bug Fixes which I am running.

I've been in to my Security and my present settings allow apps downloaded from Mac App Store and identified Developers.

I've taken the firewall down and tried to start the app while online and offline. Makes no difference, the App will not launch.

Are there any other Security settings I could try to change?

Thanks again.

Oh by the way, 10.9.5 will not operate on a PowerMac. PowerMac is the term used for Macs that went obsolete in mid-2006. Since you have an Intel Core2Duo, you clearly do NOT have a PowerMac.

As it is a developer release of the software, you really should contact the developer. We can't really comment on unreleased software here.
