Preventing Macbook from sleeping due to iPad smart case

Hello everyone! First post on here, hope you all can help me.

So I recently joined the iPad family! I bought a smart case and as you know, it allows the iPad to sleep when you close it. I also own a Macbook Pro, and I often like to multi task using both the iPad and the Macbook. I tend to leave my iPad on my laptop while I try to do things on the Macbook, but everytime I do, the magnets in the smart case interact with those in the Macbook, making the Macbook go to sleep.

Is there anyway to prevent this? (I wasn't sure what exactly to search in terms of keywords to figure out my problem so I figured I'd start a new post. If this has already been solved feel free to link me to the solution!)

Thank you in advance!
