having trouble authoizing another computer

I downloaded a few movies and apps on my son's iPad (iPad 1). It has been awhile since I have synced the iPad and computer. So I am kinda out of practice. Anyway.I have a new computer, I wanted to sync what is on his iPad onto my computer (trasnfered it in case he looses apps etc) that way I can just transfer it back to iPad from computer. Since my computer is new do I have to authorize it before. If so how do I do this I looked up on help but what it said is not working. My son uses his computer for school ,he is special needs.

Press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.

In iTunes for Windows, you have to be logged into the same Apple ID, then in the Menu Bar, click on Account>Authorize This Computer. Then transfer the purchases.

That won't work anymore on the new iTunes. The menu selection is no longer Store, but Account.

Thanks for pointing this out. I guess I see why, but that sure invalidates a whole bunch of existing solutions on this site. 😮

I noticed it when someone else was asking the question and after getting the solution came back and mentioned it. I then went to iTunes to check myself and found it. Change is good, or so I keep getting told! 😕

See also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device, just in case there is other content you need to recover from the device. Switching libraries can cause problems.
