iTunes Extremely Slow

I just upgraded iTunes to version 12.2.0 this morning. Much to my surprise iTunes became extremely slow when updating songs' information, such as changing name of artist or date of release. It is taking me close to 40 seconds to have any change performed. That ballon keeps spinning non stop.

Any help how to fix it? If it is a problem with the release (looks like) how do I downgrade to the previous version?
