I Am going to a conference where my dorm room may not have wifi. If not, i'm supposed to hook my laptop--which i don't own--directlt to a "high-speed internet jack." I'll bring my ipad--can i hook it up?

thanks anyway to both of you. i will have to hope that the university, which has been "making progress" with secure wi-fi, has progressed enough to let me get online, despite its "jack" imperative.
They do sell portable routers at lots of places. I carry an older model Airport Express when I travel.
