factory reset?
I unplugged my iMac and moved it upstairs. When I replugged it back in it is completely factory! Why did this happen? I most likely had it backed up but what did i do wrong?

If you didn't turn if off prior to disconnecting from an electric outlet, that can happen.
Insufficient information to ever answer your question. In theory what you say can't happen nor can it happen logically. The only way it happens is that you have two systems installed on two partitions. When you unplug the machine you reset the PRAM meaning loss of the setting for the Startup Drive. To fix that you just need to change it in Startup Drive preferences. Otherwise, it isn't possible for a single, modified installation of OS X to miraculously change back to factory default beyond changes in the PRAM.
No, it can't.
I Figured it out. It was in guest mode. nooob
