iTunes 12.2 Very Slow On Search etc.

I just "upgraded" to iTunes 12.2 and I find it very slow on things like search, when I click on an album / artist / ...

I have a very large library and store things on my HD not on the cloud.

Sure my computer is old but I have lots of RAM.

Any ideas? Anyone else had issues?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Adding music through the 'automatically add to iTunes folder' is also slow as Heinz ketchup! Basically anything that requires updating the iTunes database is very slow. This problem only seems to affect people with large iTunes libraries so you don't here about the problem very often since people with lots of music stored on their computers don't use iTunes. They probably won't ever fix this problem so your best bet is to uninstall 12.2 and reinstall 12.1 or earlier. You aren't going to use iTunes music anyways right? Kinda defeats the point of having a large iTunes library doesn't it. (Plus iTunes music is crappy quality mp3's not lossless like Tidal).

25 seconds, you're lucky. Edit song info for one (1) track takes nearly a minute on my PC after ITunes update. Nearly 100 000 tunes in my library, but I didn't experience this kind of problem before update. Is it true Apple don't care? Actually I liked the new ITunes design, especially for IPhone and IPad. But if I have to wait a minute or more every time I e.g. have to edit track info I will turn mad before Greece is bankrupt. I also tried to make Mp3 of some WAV songs. I managed to read a 300 page book before 15 tracks were finished.

Strange, I was in browser mode (looks more or less like the old iTunes interface) and the program was slow as molasses, plus it was causing a memory leak. I switched to Artist (not Album) view and iTunes sped up, and no more memory leak. Anyways, thanks for putting me on this track; I wouldn't have thought changing the view mode could have such a major impact on performance.

I just switched back to Song view (that was causing so much trouble before), and no change in application speed and no return of the memory leak. It looks like switching to Artist view permanently fixed whatever the issue was (at least in my case). And the fix survives quiting and re-launching iTunes. Perhaps some odd bug in Song view that borks library updating? Odd, but I'm glad there's a workaround.

This is insane!!! I'm so disappointed in iTunes, I use it all the time, I have literally thousands of bootlegs and things that I edit constantly, adding, etc and as people have noted here editing single tracks is ridiculously sluggish, a good twenty seconds at least before the wheel stops spinning, causing the box to hover over any application I switch to, making my whole computer useless!!! How can this be?

By the way, I did try switching to Album view from songs and I have the same interminable waiting for the edits to kick in, and this is simply just hitting the arrow to go to the next song fields not even changing any of the fields, etc!!!!!

The second thing is that when I start playing a song, the song timer at the top doesn't move for a good 30 seconds, in other words the song plays, I guess that's most important, but the rest of the program essentially pauses for 30 seconds, you can't forward the song, switch to the next song, do anything with the app, until that kicks in...this is just ridiculous...are they going to fix this?

I have a brand new MacBook Pro, and this should not be happening!

I have been sticking to iTunes but I have to consider alternatives? Any ideas? Apple please help with this!!!

I'm having this issue as well, but it's taking well over a minute to add any new tracks, as well as editing the added tracks. I'm on a 2010 27" iMac with 12g of RAM, running Yosemite 10.10. I do have a failry large library at over 105k tracks, perhaps that is part of it. However, I did not have this speed issue with the prior release version of iTunes. I hope it's something that can be fixed with an upcoming change.

My music library is over 300 GB. I have the same problem: since I updated to 12.2, when I edit or add music on Artist view it takes over 1 or 2 minutes (before update, only 10 seconds...). And also, when I change between songs (in Artist view) the track names disappear. My solution at now, is to use only the Album view. I hope Apple works to solve it.
