Closure for a keyboard

My grandson mislaid the piece that closes the battery compartment in a keyboard we had, I found a so-called replaced piece on eBay. It is the right size, but does not turn and fit into place - hence leaving us without a useable keyboard. Anyone else had this problem and able to solve it?
