itunes preview song keeps cutting off

When I try to preview a song it will typically show the preview time as around 1 1/2 minutes yet when I play the song the preview cuts off after anywhere from 8 to 12 seconds. I'm working off a brand new PC (1 month old) with Windows 8, however, I noticed the exact same thing occurring on my previous computer. Anyone seem to understand what seems to be the problem here?
