MBP suddenly turned off and is not responsive.

I plugged my a1278 2010 macbook pro in last night and charged my iPhone 6 from one of the USB ports. This morning I opened up the laptop and was just getting ready to send some emails. Safari was loading when I unplugged my iPhone. Immediately after unplugging it my MBP screen went black. No response at all since then. The MagSafe light does not turn on and the power switch does nothing. I'm kind of freaking out here! i ordered the tri prong screwdriver but it doesn't come until Monday. Should I take it to the Apple Store? Any other troubleshooting ideas?
