History disappeared

In safari, when I look at the bookmark, there are usually history of all the sites that I visited. Now there is nothing under "history". Can you help me to get back my history, so that I don't have to enter the sites again? Thanks.

Do you have private browsing enabled - tap the icon top right of Safari, the two squares, is 'Private' top right of the next screen in white (i.e. not enabled) or black text on a white background (i.e. you're using private browsing ? History isn't saved when you're using private browsing ; tapping Private on that screen turns it on/off

Thanks for your reply.

My problem is not to restore any particular lost history. It is the fact that there is nothing in "history" at all, at any time. When I go to safari, bookmark, history, it is empty. I don't remember doing any setting change to cause this change to occur. Also, I don't know where to go to start having "history" remember the sites that I have typed in.

Thanks.
