Why did iTunes 12.2 remove all of my settings? How do I get them back?

I upgraded to iTunes 12.2. It removed all of my sync settings so now Podcast and Apps don't sync properly. Why does this happen? Isn't there some backwards compatibility in the Apple world? How do I get them to sync properly now? I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 7.1.2. on Win7.
