Sync iTunes to NAS

Hello everyone,

quick question about iTunes and a possible ability to sync to a Synology NAS

I have a music folder on the NAS which i have 'mapped' and can use through finder 🙂

I am away from home a fair bit and take my mac with me but want to take my music also, so i am wondering is there a way to sync the music in the folder of my nas with my mac so that i can have a local copy, i have tried adding folder to library while 'copy files to iTunes media etc' is ticked and this copies everything to music folder on the mac, but if i add new songs to the has then i have to also add them manually to iTunes, is there a way to get this to happen automatically? or is there even some kind of 'close a has folder onto my mac' trick i could use, then just point iTunes to it

Thanks y'all 🙂

Uh-oh. I foretell disaster. You need to learn the basics of how iTunes operates (in particular terminology since "mapping" is not an iTunes term and I have only the slightest idea to what it refers; and syncing is only something done with a mobile device), and you are using a NAS which can be very finicky with iTunes and may result in inexplicable behavior. I hope you have everything backed up regularly.

So, is your library on the NAS portable?

The one thing you can't do is "sync" part of a library to a different computer in terms of adding parts of one library and generating a new, secondary library from it.
