Landscape mode doesn't show tabs anymore

I recently noticed that whenever I open a new tab on my 6+ (8.4) it will load the new page in the background. Safari is in landscape mode. I switched from background to tab in settings several times and even restarted the iPhone. Nothing changed. I want my tabs back 🙂. Does anybody have the same problem? Or knows a solution?
