I emptied the camera roll on my iPod touch 5gen using windows explorer on a pc,
but in settings on my iPod the camera roll is still taking up 2.5GB of space. How can
get rid of this? Thanks.

Sorry it took so long to reply, in iTunes, on my iPod, the "Other" section comes up as 1.90GB and the camera roll is completely empty. I will try to restore from an old backup and post back. Thanks for the help!
I have restored my iPod to an old backup and the empty photo album is now taking up 5.2GB of space(!). I need to get this space back, what can I do now?
As I said, then you have to restore to factory settings/new iPod. Not from backup
That's going to be irritating. Is there a way I can get my documents and data back onto the iPod once it has been reset?
What documents and data specifically?
Mostly save data for games, although there are some other things.
Some games like Game Center games maintain status on servers. Thus you only have to use the same login. Otherwise I do not know of a way to move game status to another device without restoring fro backup.
