Iphone No Longer Working in Car

I use Spotify to listen to music while driving. I use a lightening cable attached from my 5s to my 2014 Nissan Frontier's USB port. It has always worked flawlessly. So I upgraded to ios 8.4. Now the truck doesn't recognize the phone at all. It isn't the cable (I've tried three). Oddly my bluetooth connectivity is unaffected so I can make handsfree calls but my vehicle won't stream music over bluetooth. Apple says that Nissan needs to update their firmware. Well, they don't do that. So I'm down to buying an Android device, buying a new truck, or rolling back to 8.3 using some sketchy 3rd party software. Any ideas?
