Mac Mini: After update v10.10.4, no kbd or mouse input when waking

After updating to Yosemite v10.10.4, my Mac Mini (Late 2012) will initially awake using a mouse button, but will not receive keyboard or mouse input. I'm using Logitech USB wireless keyboard and mouse, but I also hooked in an Apple USB keyboard and had the safe effect.

Eventually after waking again (using the mouse button to wake), it responded correctly and I was able to log in.

This has happened twice.

I am mistaken: this is not a problem with the input device. It feels like a driver issue, but I'm not sure.

Basic configuration:

  • Recent update to 10.10.4
  • MacMini, Late 2012, with XCode and MacPorts (I'm updating MacPorts now, just in case)
  • Logitech keyboard and mouse

Basic sequence of events:

  1. I hit the keyboard or mouse to log in from sleep
  2. One key input (*) shows up in the password input, but no more
  3. The spinning wheel is barely visible in the far left hand corner of the screen
  4. No input shows up after this point
  5. I have to reboot

This problem just started since I updated a few days ago.
