Macbook Pro 17-inch Mid 2009 5,2 Upgrade to SSD

Can anyone tell me if my Macbook Pro is Upgradeable to an ssd and if this one will work. If you can link me a video too, that would be great.

MacBook Pro (17-inch, Mid 2009)

MacBookPro5,2

2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB


Currently have a 500GB SATA Disk.

Running 10.10

MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Since the SSD's you've linked to are only 120GB, how much space is currently occupied on your HD? All drives work better when there's a fair amount of free space available, but it's even more important with SSD's and that would be a significant step down in capacity.


And the issue that OGELTHORPE mentioned has indeed been fixed in 10.10.4. 🙂
