iphone 6 video onto my computer?

Hi,

I shot some video on my iphone 6 and want to put it onto my desktop (OS 10.6.8) for eventual use in FCP 7. My iphotos program would not connect properly with the iphone 6...probably too old of an operating system. i had to go to a friend's house with a newer mac, export the video to her mac (she has the newer "photos" rather than iphoto. Then I moved the video from her computer to a USB drive, then onto my computer. How can I go directly from iphone 6 to my computer? Is there a way to drag files rather than sync with iphoto which doesn't seem to be working?
