ipad onscreen keyboard iOS 8.3 and 8.4

My iPad mini onscreen keyboard changed from a single screen-wide display to two separate keyboard, presumably one for each hand.

-> How can I restore the single keyboard display?

I restarted the iPad (turning it off, waiting, then back on), and installed 8.4, but no success - Thanks
