When I save a TextEdit document for the first time, the Save dialog box defaults to iCloud although I put practically nothing in iCloud. It then takes several clicks to get to a folder in my Documents. How can I change the default setting that TextEdit is following?

It should use the local disk as first preference for saving files instead of iCloud.

I am running 10.8.5
It's a Terminal command, /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.
Paste that line in & hit return, it should change when you next restart TextEdit (it is 'global' so other apps will do the same).
