iTunes 12.2 restoring column view for playlists and removing cover art

Ever new playlist that I create has the column format changed and a gigantic cover art banner above it. I use iTunes to organize music

by key and BPM, storing that information in the comments section. This makes it very easy to arrange dj sets, radio shows, podcasts, etc.

Is there any way to change the playlist view back to show columns? I've read one article, http://www.mcelhearn.com/itunes-12-2-new-playlist-view-option/

that says it is an "Option" but there is no way to change it. Please respond if you have a way to change the playlist view back to display columns or have an effective way to contact Apple to lodge a complaint concerning iTunes 12.2. new format.

-Thank you

I spent over an hour on the phone with Apple tech support this morning to come up with this same solution, however, choosing that option is specific to EACH PLAYLIST . . is there any way to change the playlist view back to the old style list view as the default view, so the ALL show that way? I'm going to otherwise have to go through and change perhaps 30-40 play lists one at a time! Thanks

Oh my gosh did this thread save my skin. Yes, as a musician who (unfortunately) depends on friggen iTunes for a living, it is INFURIATING when apple changes things around with little or no explanation as to how to get things back to normal. INFURIATING!!! Every major revision of iTunes comes with HOURS of figuring out what the **** happened. I'm am now getting to the point that I need to use another program and cloud service to manage my music and playlists because iTunes it too unpredictable!

Anyway, thanks to you posters who solved this little stupid problem. I spent hours trying to figure out what the **** happened to the check boxes! effing INFURIATING. ON top of having to rebuild my library about once a year becasue iCloud screws something up and looses my custom tracks! I quit trying to keep the album art organized years ago. That's a lost cause!

Yes folks, just venting.

I just spent over an hour trying to find out why my new playlist wasn't in list view, like the others. I kept looking in the Menu Bar options and tried View Options, but I didn't know that I should be choosing "Songs" to get list view. That's not intuitive at all. That option belongs under View in the Menu Bar and clearly stating "List View" or better yet, in Preferences for overall default in iTunes.

I'm not entirely sure what it is that doesn't work anymore. Since iTunes 12.4 (I'm using 12.4.1) you can change the way the data is displayed for any of your playlists using the iTunes menubar View>View As. Selecting Songs will get the view that I see referred to as List View and Column View in this thread. There is no preference to make this the default view, so it has to be changed for each playlist. I've seen comments that this change doesn't stick, and will eventually revert back to Playlist View, but I haven't experienced that.

Good luck

I too am frustrated.. can i go back t an older version?

i like to have, bit rate , sample, and description, kind bpm etc

one would think..are you listening APPLE!? that under preferences one could select what they want and it will carry on for everything...

but view options are individual..

If you change the view options on a play list, then go to another play list, the views you want/ selected are gone and the stupid squares with the musical notes are on the left. I used iTunes for my recording as well as my music collections . i do not need art work and genre when i am using it to organize my personal band recordings..

i had thought that if i changed the view options for the FOLDER it would carry on to all the play lists in that folder but NOOOOOOOOO..stupid.. then i tried it for the library..nope..

i want my column to be in one order for every play list now and after years and years...like since 1998...i have so much and i just can't go and keep fixing what the software updates keep breaking...

what I did was turn off the iTunes store! I never buy music from it and maybe it will help...

This was what I needed! I'm on 12.5 and it was driving me flipping mental to not have list view with comments column. I've used iTunes semi professionally too for theatre sound, and these changes are a serious problem with zero added value. Please smarten up and simplify, Apple! We don't need one app that tries to do everything audio and instead does nothing well. I remember when Microsoft products were this user-unfriendly, but the tables have turned...
