Using Multicam with two audio feeds

I have two camera angles and audio from a lapel mic and a hand mic. Should I synchronise the lapel and hand mic in advance of creating the Multicam sync clip? This would mean that I would end up with only one audio feed in the Multicam clip (which can be accessed separately in the inspector). What I'm trying to do is cut the film to the audio.

No. Sync them all at once into one multicam clip.

yes thats what I did - I clicked on the two clips (angle A and B) and the synced audio and created the new multicam clip from there. It still synchronises again with the camera audio when creating the Multicam clip allowing me to edit between the two angles with one audio source chosen before I begin to cut. This is okay yes? Am I understanding you correctly?
