lojack on macbook pro

This probably requires someone with lojack sw expertise, but here goes. Recently rented a cottage. While we were there, the owner arranged to have wireless internet installed. After installation, my daughter booted her macbook pro, on which I have installed lojack for laptops. Maybe a couple hours later, in the lojack tracking tool, her laptop showed up at a very specific residence on the other side of the state. I know the lojack client apps are buried deep in the system, but if someone was to access her laptop and, for example, copy some/all of it's contents (including the app) is it possible that tracking could still function, even if for a brief time?
