iTunes showing music "on my device" that has already been deleted

The music in iTunes showing as 'on my device' has already been deleted from my phone and is no longer on my device, but it is still showing as on my device in iTunes. iTunes will not allow me to delete the music in the 'on my device' section and I also cant drag/drop new music from my pc to iTunes. I did the update, please tell me this does not have anything to do with it.

Hey VeryVeryFrustratedToday,

I know how irritating it can be when your devices manage to escape the will of your whims. Force closing all open apps and resetting your iPhone may help restore your control over the device.

Force an app to close in iOS

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

If you're still unable to delete the affected music, the next step would be to reinstall iOS on your device by placing it in Recovery Mode, then choosing Update in iTunes.

  1. Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
  2. Put your device in recovery mode.
  3. When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn onhttps://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201412

Regards,

Allen
