30% in startup the black screen appears

HI all,

I have an iMac 8,1 3.06Ghz and recently updated to 10.10.4.

Today the screen went black while using the iMac.

Next up: I restarted and after 30% in the progress bar the screen goes black...

I have tried resetting everything... did not help

I tried loading 10.10.4 from a bootable USB (made it using another Mac)... same story... after 30% a black screen...

Could this be an issue with 10.10.4? If it were a 'driver' issue for sure the USB Install should work, right?

Anybody else having this issues?

Hello MichielM,

It sounds like you are unable to boot your computer because partway through the book process the screen goes black. Even though the stated symptoms are a bit different I would recommend you do the troubleshooting in the following article to help with this issue:
