iTunes and iPhone show different info

Hi. I have a fully updated Macbook Pro, iTunes, and iPhone...iTunes is saying my phone has 6.68gb free space. Before all the updates iTunes showed that my phone had around 5gb free space and the phone still shows around 5gb free space. Anyone know why this could be?

Also, I noticed that in the iTunes sidebar section called 'on my device' there is no 'photos' option, and in the bar at the bottom it doesn't show anything for 'photos'. I have 50 pictures on the phone. Any ideas?
