My memory stick is not there and finder preferences won't help
I have checked all of the finder preferences such as sidebar but i cannot find it.
MacBook Pro, iOS 8.4
Memory is hardware. You won't find it in the Finder. So what exactly do you mean?

i mean a usb drive a memory card reader something i can transfer my files onto another device with
Finder>Preferences>Sidebar>devices>External disk
Finder>Preferences>General>External disk
