My iphone 5s won't charge or turn on, what do i do?

My 5s, when its on will cut off at 100% and say its dead. When I plug it up to the charger, it'll say its charging but it'll take forever to turn on or even sometimes it won't. It'll just have the red battery charging. I've tried cleaning the port and even leaving it on the charger, but nothing helps. Is it the battery or something? Please help
