My MacBook Air has 8GB memory, but it is becoming extremely slow, especially when running Windows on Parallels.
Can I add more RAM? If so, what brand(s)? Can I do it myself or must I go to a Genius Bar?

I completely agree with Niel. In addition:
I'm fairly certain Apple never sold any MacBook Air that could be configured with more than 8GB of memory. So if you want a machine with more RAM, consider selling your machine and buying a more powerful Mac (e.g., MacBook Pro with Retina Display).

3. Neither you nor Apple can increase the RAM of a MacBook Air, except when customizing a model prior to purchase.
