iTunes keeps crashing within minutes after launching

Hi All

Since updating to iTunes 12.2 on my MacBook Pro, I'm lucky if I can get it to play one song before crashing. And now, I am currently trying to sync my iPad, but iTunes keeps crashing before I get anywhere with it. I'm not at all tech savvy, so I don't know where to start.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), iOS 7
