syncing ringtones somehow taking up several gigabytes

So I just updated to ios 8.4. I noticed my ringtones weren't syncing. When they aren't syncing, it says I have 7.12 GB of space on my phone. When I click "sync tones" - and there are only about 25 of them, some of which are very short text tones - it suddenly says I only have 4.85 GB of free space. I can't even see where this is on the bar that breaks down the type of data on my phone. Apps, Video, and Documents & Data don't change at all. Music actually goes DOWN .04 GB. And it only adds 228 MB of "Other". Unless my understanding of how megabytes and gigabytes work is totally off, I cannot for the life of me explain what is happening to suddenly occupy 2.5 GBs of space. Anyone have any idea what is wrong with the syncing on tones after updating to 8.4?
