Apple ID valid in home country?

Hi, I was recently on vacation in the U.K. and tried to use the app store while there. Got the "your account not valid in UK store etc". But now back in canada, it says my apple id is not valid in Canada, and to switch to the UK store. My account is only valid in canada as the only credit card I have is canadian, however this message insists otherwise. I've switched stores back and forth, to no avail. Even on the UK store it tells me to switch to the UK store. I've logged in and out, reselected canada as my location for my ID.... It gives me this notification on my computer as well as on my phone. What can I do! Thanks!
