FCPX causing Kernel Panics on my MBP i7 mid 2010

Hi - be grateful for advice on this.

I have a mid 2010 Macbook Pro, i7 running Yosemite. For the last three weeks when I try a simple manouvre in Final Cut Pro X (such as changing the colour or moving the frame) a kernel panic occurs and the whole machine restarts. Quite often a kernel panic occurs on opening the application These are only small projects too.

I originally installed Final Cut Pro X about 6 months ago and since then used it quite a lot successfully, except for certain periods where these kernel panics would occur.

What I have tried:

I initially thought I needed more RAM but when I switched from 4GB to 8GB it made no difference.

I created a new account on my mac and opened FCP and the problem repeated.

I have tried new RAM sticks, and tested each stick of RAM one at a time in each port. Every app worked perfectly (including After Effects and Photoshop) except for FCPX which again shut the machine down.

My friend tells me to reinstall Yosemite or try Mavericks operating system. I already performed a fresh install of Yosemite a few months ago and I'm fairly sure this was after I had already experienced problems on FCPX (but I'm not 100% sure about that).

I haven't tried reinstalling FCPX since then, so maybe that's the next step?

Thanks!

YYou need to take the system to a service technician. From the description I suspect the video card, but it might be any number of things.

Hardware tests said all working fine.

Ran etrecheck - report below:

1. I advise to remove all entries in SystemPreferences/Users&Groups/LoginItems, with the minus sign.

Restart.

Do not use Chrome for some days, see how it behaves then.

2. I am not familiar with Rane, perhaps Rane Serato 3 is not compatible with 10.10.4. Check with Rane.

You could do the same with it as with Chrome: to test disable it for the time being in SystemPreferences/SL3AudioControlPanel, and see how it behaves.
