Power charger cable ripped

Hello everyone,

The outer plastic sleeve of my Mac charger has ripped (see picture below) and I'm considering fixing it for short-term usage (needless to say it should be replaced long-term). I was wondering if people here have come across the same problem. My initial ideas was to wrap around some duct tape, which should make for a fine temporary fix, but would be glad to hear other suggestions.

That rip is in the insulation and is not a good thing to just tape over. There is an increased risk of short circuit and damage to the MacBook Pro and/or charger. It would be far safer to get a new charger/cable assembly as soon as possible.

Do not be fooled by cheap imitations. That all will claim to be genuine Apple chargers.
