The Restrictions passcode will be the same code

No it is not.

That would make no sense whatsoever.

You will have to wipe and restore the device.

If you cannot remember your Restrictions Passcode (and it is not the same as your normal passcode used to unlock the iPad) you will have to erase the iPad. You can restore from a backup IF that backup was done before creating the Restrictions Passcode. If you restore from a more recent backup you will restore the Restrictions Passcode as well.
