iTunes 12.2.0 artists sort no longer alphabetical

With the new iTunes 12.2.0 when I look at the iTunes using the artist sort, it is no longer alphabetical. It is alphabetical for the first name (all JOHNS come after all JOES) but within the JOHNS it is messed up. It sorts correctly under the SONGS sort and under the ALBUMS sort but not under ARTISTS. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

I have a similar problem with itunes 12.2.0.145, OS X 10.10.4, German:

alphabetical order in artists view is mixed up - e.g. "Ash", "Air" prior to "a-ha", "Aaliyah".

Before updating to itunes version 12.2. the alphabetical order was correct (starting with "a-ha").
