I would like to ask you about purchases on the app store. Can I downloaf free apps or even update the already existing ones without a prepaid card?

It sounds like you are wondering if you need a payment method to update your purchased apps. In general no. You can remove your payment information from your account and still be able to update them:
Change or remove your Apple ID payment information in the iTunes Store
If you are unable to remove your payment info then this article might shed some light as to why.
