Q: How can I remap the fn key while running windows 8 in bootcamp?

I'm trying to bind the control key to the fn key in windows 8, but programs such as Sharpkeys doesn't seem able to detect the fn key. Is there any other programs that would allow me to do this?

The Fn key is a modifier key, not a terminator key. You may not be able to bind it to a terminator key.

Why is it possible for me to remap the fn key on OSX then? I don't understand what the difference is between the two operating systems. Karbiner works fine on OSX, so why cant the fn key be detected on Windows 8?

I mapped the control key over to the fn key. This way, control is in the bottom-left corner of the keyboard, which is what I'm used to.

Control key is also a modifier key. It is not a standalone terminator key like the character A for example. Do you want to map the Fn key to Control in Windows?

I'm unaware of any way to remap keys natively in windows 8. Any google search leads to me to third party programs, which do not detect the fn key.

Maybe I'm not understanding what your saying. Are you telling me that theres a program in windows 8 that can remap keys?

I also poked around in drivers. The Keyboard driver on the OS X side has the Modifier Key mapping panel, but there is no such facility on the Windows side. You may have to live with it or use the on-screen keyboard.
