I have Compressor 3.5 running on 10.6.8 and has been doing fine. But recently, she keeps crashing out of nowhere, particularly when done with a task or when a batch is in progress. Afterwards, I run Compressor Repair and run Compressor again. Is there any way to stop these abrupt crashes.

Did Compressor Repair have any effect on your issue? I was going to suggest kicking on Rest Background Processes from the Compressor menu, but I'm sure that Compressor Repair does that as well.

Tried both Reset Background Process and Compressor Repair - still getting the crashes.
Have you run Digital Rebellion's Compressor Repair without success?
If so, use the uninstaller to completely remove the app and reinstall it.

Perhaps - not sure if the new version works with FCP 7.

It's not an issue with FCP 7. The issue is with the version of OSX. Compressor 4 will not run under 10.6.8 - but Compressor 3.5 should be just peaches and cream with 10.6.8
Also, you may want to consider any of the steps that are listed in this support doc that you have not tried already.
