Q: Can't find any solution for constant shut downs

Hello everyone,

I have a Macbook pro 13, 2012 A1278. 500GB disk space, 4GB ram, Intel i5 processor with Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5.

A few weeks ago the system shut down and couldn't restart. When opening Disk utility and checking for errors I got a message saying it couldn't be repaired, unless I formatted the computer and reinstalled the whole system. So I did. I saved all my files through firewire to another mac and then erased everything and reinstalled the OS. Then repaired the disk.

I keep having these constant kernel panics. I didn't install anything again because I want to sell it as it is. That means everything on the computer is mac.But it keeps restarting!

I tried everything: I did a hardware test and everything seems fine. I created another user to see if that was the problem. I read all the articles and did all the suggestions for troubleshooting and nothing works.

I haven't taken it to a tech yet because I'm in Argentina and the MacStation services are so expensive here!

Please help me, what else can I do? Should I buy another hard disk with OS included?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), null

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    In the Console window, select

DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION System Diagnostic Reports

(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

              View Show Log List

    from the menu bar.

There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.

If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.

In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.

I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

When you post the report, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

The panics are not caused by software. The drive failure that you reported earlier wasn't caused by software either, so you're dealing with a hardware fault. The negative hardware test doesn't mean anything. If you've replaced the original memory modules, reinstall them and see whether there's an improvement. Otherwise the machine will need to be serviced.

I didn't replace the memory modules. I don't even know what those are.

So I guess I'll have to take it to a service place.

Thank you so much for your time and help!

    God blesses you.

    One more thing...

What could it be though? I mean, Do you have an idea what could it be? So I can at least give the service guy some clue… just wondering.

Testing will determine what needs to be done. Good luck.
