USB Airplay has stopped working following recent update of iTunes

I updated my software including iTunes and the USB Superdrive has stopped working.

Has anyone come across this problem and is there a fix?

It would be helpful if we knew the verison of OS X installed. Your computer may only need a SMC and PRAM reset. iMac SMC and PRAM reset
