Some artist info synced on first sync to new iPhone

I have a new iPhone. I loaded all my existing music to iTunes via a scan of my hard drive. Once that finished I synced the music to my new iPhone. All the songs and albums appear on the iPhone now, but not all the artist information is there. When I view by artist it shows all the artists starting with the letter Q through Z. How can I get my iPhone set up with all the artists. I know the music is there, for example, Aerosmith albums were transferred properly but I cannot find Aerosmith in the artist view. Newly ripped CDs to iTunes on Windows and subsequently synced to the phone show up in the artist list. It is just that initial sync that went bad. How do I correct this situation?
