apple Tv Remote not working

Hello,

I use the Apple Tv Remote app but lately its not working. When I open up the ap, it used to give me a black screen which worked as my interface to allow me to use appletv. Now it opens up but consistently asks me to open up home sharing, which I did, but it still does not allow me to do anything.

Does anyone know how to pair a remote to an itunes library? I'm trying to pair the remote but i get this message stating " open itunes on your computer and choose remote from the tab bar"....where is the tab bar?
