Macbook Pro making loud (fan) noise and over heating only when I plug in charger

Macbook Pro with retina display seems to be making loud fan noise and over heating when I plug it into charge. Is there a problem with the battery? the noise doesn't seem to occur when I use my macbook without the charger plugged in. Any thoughts?

If the SMC reset does not work, install a temperature and fan speed monitoring software.


Open Activity Monitor to ALL PROCESSES and set CPU to display values from high to low.


When the MBP gets hot, see what are the actual temperatures being developed and what applications are may be causing the high temperatures.
