How do I know what USB stick I can use to import some pictures on to my IMac

I have a 32 GB high speed USB 2.0 Flash drive stick. Is it useable on a IMac 2009 w/ Yosemite 10.10.4. It will be used on a iPad 2 (someone not on iCloud) and then transferred to my iMac.

Where do I find what kind of USB i can use on my computer.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

All the USB ports on the iMac support USB 2.0. The only issue for you is capacity. How much space will you need for what you wish to put on the flash drive. From what you've said as of now that limit is 32 GBs, roughly. The Finder will report about 29 GBs of cspacity when the flash drive is formatted.
