Garageband Editing Problem

When editing in Garageband and I click the space bar, the sound doesn't begin for three seconds after the editing point and conversely sound continues for three seconds after I click the spacebar to end the edit. I didn't experience this until I update to Yosemite. Can you assist me to make the sound start and end when I click the space bar?
