Can no longer share GarageBand-edited songs to iTunes. Gets stuck in "preparing copy" mode and I have to shut down computer to exit Garageband.

I can no longer share songs that I've edited in GarageBand to iTunes as I did before. There has been no GarageBand update to change it or mess it up. When I click "share" and choose "send to iTunes," the transaction gets stuck in "preparing copy" mode…. and rolls and rolls. Then I have to force quit the computer to exit GarageBand. It's not a one time glitch. I've tried it repeatedly, even using different songs. Is there a relatively simple solution?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I am having the same problem. I have Force Quit Garage Band 3 times now and have tried restarting macbook but nothing has worked.

It seems the new iTunes version is incompatible with the old GarageBand version. The current GB version doesn't show the problem.

Another fellow said that it's because the newest version of ITunes is not compatible with GarageBand. Imagine that! The way I got around it, at least for now, was to burn the edited piece to a CD in GarageBand and then to add it to ITunes manually. I don't know what someone with a newer machine, with no CD portal, could do.

i would think the more simple solution would be to Share to Disk, instead of burning a CD, and then drop the resulting file into iTunes to add it to the library.

I got around it too, by burning to CD then entering into iTunes. I used to do this with older computer with editing program then putting songs into Real Player. With my MacBook I really liked the fewer steps from GarageBand to iTunes without wasting CDs, but I guess i'd better stock up on CDs as this is for my job!

Did you see the suggestion from Hang Time? It works for me and now I don't have to burn CDs to import manually. Share your Garageband tune to Disk and it'll go to your music folder. Then you can take it from your music folder and drop it into iTunes without wasting a CD. I hope it works as well for you as it has for me. Thanks to HangTime.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! I just tried it and it worked! I saw the message from Hang Time but thought a disk was like a CD or the old floppy disks so I had not tried it. I learned something new today, I am not very techno-savvy either but continue to learn as I go. Thanks again AuntSandra and Hang Time.
